Workshops

Overview

The Libraries' workshops are presented primarily by the Instructional Media Center and the Library Instructional Services Department.

The Instructional Media Center offers workshops covering programs found in the Adobe Creative Suite 4, including Acrobat, Illustrator, ImageReady, InDesign, and Photoshop; in Microsoft Office 2007, including Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word; on the internet, including Web 2.0 technologies; and on mobile devices. Workshops are held on a regular basis. To view and register for upcoming workshops, see the calendar. Professors can enhance their courses by booking workshops on any software the IMC supports; call 325-7676 to schedule a workshop for your class.

The Library Instructional Services Department's workshops cover topics related to research, scholarship, and academic integrity. They can develop a special session based on any of the topics offered in the Survival Skills for Graduate Students, Databasics, Practical Professor, or EndNote workshops series or on any database. Instruction sessions for your online or distance classes, as well as customized resource pages tailored to your class's needs, are also available. Thesis and Dissertation Formatting Workshops provide hands on experience in using the Thesis/Dissertation Templates for formatting documents and converting those documents into an acceptable pdf. Recommendations will be given for best practices in creating and formatting tables/figures/equations. For more information, visit the website of the Office of Thesis & Dissertation Format Review.

Information Technology Services (ITS) provides training in the use of a wide variety of software applications including Microsoft Access, Adobe Acrobat, Dreamweaver, Camtasia Studio, Flash, SAS and SPSS.  For more information on these workshops visit the ITS Training website at http://www.its.msstate.edu/support/training/.
