Classroom Space Available at the Library

The MSU Library houses a number of multimedia classrooms, meeting rooms and presentation/seminar spaces. These rooms are used by the library faculty/staff for workshops, seminars, classroom instruction as well as special events and meetings.

 

Please read through the descriptions of the room available below, and choose the one best suited to your needs. If you have any questions or need help selecting a room, please call the Instructional Media Center at (662) 325-7676.

 

ELI and Giles Rooms


In addition to their primary use as facilities for instruction by Library faculty and staff, the ELI and Giles Rooms are available to qualifying individuals and groups who do not require the assistance of Library faculty to teach their classes.

 

Both the ELI Room and Giles Room are equipped with the following:

  • 15 student workstations with CD drives
  • one instructor workstation with CD drive, speakers, data projector, and screen
  • one whiteboard with markers and eraser
  • seating for up to 30 students

 

The Giles electronic classroom is equipped with a teaching lectern provided by the University Administration. This state-of-the-art lectern includes a projector, computer, document camera, DVD, VCR and a wireless receiver. This self-contained unit provides all of the multimedia options needed for presentations.

 

These rooms are located on the First Floor of the Library in the Bound Journals area. To reserve the ELI or Giles Room, please contact the Instructional Media Center.

 

IMC Presentation Room


The Presentation Room is specifically designed for presenters. It is used frequently by students to practice their class presentations as well as actual class meetings. Since this room does not have computers the arrangement of the room can be configured to meet the needs of the group.

 

This room can be reserved for use during the following hours: 7:30am to 9:30pm Monday through Thursday, 7:30am to 7:30pm on Friday, 10:00am to 7:30pm on Saturday, and 1:00pm to 9:30pm on Sunday.

 

The IMC Presentation room features:

  • one instructor podium with CD drive, speakers, data projector, and screen
  • TV/DVD setup capabilities
  • one whiteboard with markers and eraser
  • seating for up to 35 students

 

The IMC Presentation Room is located on the First Floor. To reserve the IMC Presentation Room, please contact the Instructional Media Center.

 

IHL Electronic Classroom


Through a join project with the Office of Academic Affairs, the library houses a computer lab designed primarily for remedial studies. When not in use by these programs, the facility is available for other workshops, classes and presentations.

 

The IHL Classroom features:

  • one instructor podium with computer, CD drive, speakers
  • data projector and screen
  • 24 computers with flat LCD panel monitors

 

The IHL Classroom is located on the First Floor. To reserve the room, please contact the Instructional Media Center.

 

Library Auditorium


The Library Auditorium is the perfect setting for a large classroom presentation, lecture, or meeting space.
This room can be reserved for use during the following hours: 7:30am to 9:30pm Monday through Thursday, 7:30am to 7:30pm on Friday, 10:00am to 7:30pm on Saturday, and 1:00pm to 9:30pm on Sunday.

 

The Auditorium features:

  • one instructor podium with CD drive, speakers, data projector, and screen
  • lapel & podium microphones
  • TV/DVD setup capabilities
  • one whiteboard with markers and eraser
  • chalk board with chalk and eraser
  • seating for up to 90 students

 

The Library Auditorium is the perfect setting for a large classroom presentation, lecture, or meeting space.
The Auditorium is located on the First Floor in the northwest corner of the building. To reserve the Library Auditorium, please contact the Instructional Media Center.

 

The John Grisham Room


The Grisham Room's main purpose is to provide a place where individuals from campus and from the Starkville community may view materials and memorabilia directly related to the writings and achievements of John Grisham. Seminars, receptions, lectures, and other functions related to teaching, research, and service can be scheduled in the Grisham Room.

 

The Grisham Room features:

  • conference room seating 12
  • projector, laptop, and screen setup capabilities
  • podium, tables, and chairs for lecture functions

 

The Grisham Room can accommodate 75 people for a seated function and 150 for a standing function. Setup for The Grisham Room is restricted to only a couple of options. A setup fee may be imposed.


The Grisham Room is located on the southwest corner of the Third Floor and is available for use from 9:00am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday.

The Charles H. Templeton, Sr. Music Museum Conference Room


The Conference Room connected with the Charles H. Templeton, Sr. Music Museum is available for select meetings and functions primarily related to those of a University nature. The Conference Room is not available for the scheduling of classes. Requests for use external to the University will be considered. All functions will be approved on a scheduled and priority basis.

 

The Conference Room features:

  • projector, laptop, and screen setup capabilities
  • seating for up to 40

 

The Templeton Conference Room is located on the southeast corner of the Fourth Floor and is available for use between 9:00am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday.
