The Liberty C. Abbott Family Papers include the papers of Liberty C. Abbott (1836-1894), an official and plantation owner of Howard, Mississippi, his wife Maria Abbott (1830-1912), his daughter Birdie Jones Gearhart (1869-1946), and his brother F. Marion Abbott (1844-1908), Mississippi state senator and railroad president. The papers contain correspondence, ledgers and account books, legal documents, diaries, newspaper clippings, photographs, and miscellany.

The Charles Johnson Faulk Papers comprise the papers of Charles Faulk, Jr. (1915-1990), Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and executive editor of the Vicksburg Evening Post. The bulk of the collection consists of photographs taken by Faulk or collected by him, and manuscripts and copies of articles and short stories he wrote, including an unpublished autobiography. Other materials include correspondence, newspapers, publications, oral interviews and artifacts.
Fields (Norma) Papers, 1960-1999.
Correspondence, articles, clippings, tapes and other records concerning the journalistic career of Norma Fields (1922-), news and feature writer and later Capitol reporter for the Tupelo/Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal. In the 1970's Fields began to focus her articles on the Mississippi Legislature and politics in the state, subjects which are strongly reflected in the collection.

Godwin Advertising Agency Collection, 1944-1978.
The Godwin Advertising Agency, based in Jackson, Mississippi, handled many political campaigns, primarily in the state, but also in Florida and North Carolina. The collection focuses on politics, with emphasis on the states rights movement (1948-1952) and two gubernatorial campaigns of Charles Sullivan. Also contains photographs of events promoted by the Mississippi A&I Board.
Grisham (John) Papers, 1983-1990.
Materials produced by Grisham (1955-) as Mississippi State Representative (1983-1990), and created as a result of his literary career. Legislative subject files include materials on such legislative issues as reapportionment, highway projects in DeSoto County, government attorneys, the Memphis International Airport, tort reform, educational reform, gambling and energy rates. Correspondence from constituents and colleagues is also included.

Political topics documented in the papers include the Secret Caucus of 1910 and the political scandals of this period, J.W. Bailey, the Prohibition movement in Mississippi, the Anti-Whitecap Movement and Lincoln County elections and politics.
Hoffa Papers, 1813-1936.
Papers of the Hoffa family contain a telegram, Nov. 8, 1916 from W.B. Hoffa of Grenada, Mississippi to President Woodrow Wilson congratulating him on his re-election and a letter from President Wilson's secretary, November 20, 1916, thanking him.

Jones (Clay) Papers, 1980s-1997.
Editorial cartoons, sketch books, correspondence, clippings and articles, photographs, memorabilia and other materials documenting the journalism career of Jones, who began his career as an editorial cartoonist for the Batesville Panolian and other newspapers and who was by 1997 one of the most widely syndicated editorial cartoonists in Mississippi. Contains cartoons on local, state and national politics.

Nash (Steve) and Willie Nash Taylor Collection, 1791-1992 and undated.
Collection amassed by Steve Nash and Willie Nash Taylor, descendants of the Nash family includes materials concerning Wiley Norris Nash (1846-1916): "To the Democratic Party of Mississippi", an address by Mississippi state Attorney General Wiley Nash, 1898; "Circular address of Wiley N. Nash", Starkville, Miss., 1884; and a scrapbook, 1885-1902 kept by Wiley Nash's daughter which concerns his candidacy and the race for Attorney General of Mississippi and his possible candidacy for Governor, 1902. Pound (Thompson) Papers, 1960-1976.
G. Thompson Pound (d. 1981), was an educator, administrator and industrialist, who served in the Mississippi State Legislature from Pontotoc, where he was instrumental in getting legislation passed to create the Tombigbee River Valley Water Management District. Pound was later Executive Director of the District. His papers include materials concerning the Presidential inaugurations of 1965 and 1969 and materials documenting the activities of elected officials including John C. Stennis, Pat Harrison, Paul B. Johnson, James Eastland, John Bell Williams, Jamie Whitten, Theodore Smith, and others involved in the Appalachian Advisory Committee.

Editorial cartoons produced by Ramsey, cartoonist for the Jackson, Miss. Clarion-Ledger include cartoons on state and national politics.
Rand (Clayton) Papers, 1918-1971.
Digitized Items
Papers of Rand (1891-1971), author, columnist, speaker, and publisher of the Dixie Guide, Gulfport, Mississippi. Rand operated newspapers in Neshoba County and North Missisisppi, before moving to the Gulf Coast in the 1920s to found the Dixie Guide. Included are correspondence, manuscripts, printed material, photographs and other materials which document Rand's varied activities and his political views.
Richardson (Bobby G.) Collection, 1960-1983.
Papers primarily document Richardson's service as Mississippi Highway Commissioner, Northern District, from 1976-1983. One major subject is the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway; also reflected are Richardson's interest in Mississippi politics and his service on the National Advisory Committee on Outdoor Advertising and Motorist Information.
Robson (George) Collection, ca. 1968-1972.
Printed material collected by Robson concerning mostly civil disobedience in the U.S. during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Among the items in the collection are a pamphlet entitled "The Plot Against Black America" and "Combat: The Newsletter that keeps you informed about the revolutionary struggle in America today".

Papers of Salter (1959-), editor and publisher of various Mississippi newspapers, including The Scott County Times and The Morton Tribune. Salter's syndicated column appears in more than 40 daily and weekly newspapers. Included are letters from readers, letters from political leaders, research files, photographs and other materials documenting Salter's career and public activities.
Segregation-Integration Miscellaneous Collection, 1920-1995.
Materials on voting rights, elections, the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party and other topics pertaining to the politics of civil rights.
Scarbrough (James) Papers, 1822-1917.
Papers of Scarbrough (1801-1889) of Chickasaw and Webster County, Mississippi, include a political broadside for the campaign of J.M. Pruitt for the 13th Senatorial District (1880s).
Sheldon (George Lawson) Papers, 1928-1961.
Papers of Sheldon (1870-1960), Nebraska Senator and Governor, State legislator of Mississippi, and leader of the "Lily White" Republican Party of Mississippi. Correspondence, legal papers, speeches and state, county and national records (1932-1961) of the Republican Party of Mississippi, largely relating to efforts to unseat the Howard-Redmond delegates, the Negro faction, at national conventions and in party patronage.

Collection contains genealogical and historical material of the Wilbourn, Scott and Eggleston families of Kemper, Noxubee, and Yalobusha Counties. Included is one letter written by Senator E.C. Walthall (1891), and one by Senator John C. Stennis (1941).
Williams (Dan) Papers, 1849-1936.
Papers of Dan Williams (1907-1970) include correspondence, speeches, a broadside and other materials concerning the Williams family of Dry Grove and Brookhaven, Mississippi. Includes Mims Williams letter (1913), concerning J.W. Bailey of Texas, two C.A. Williams letters (1936) concerning Pat Harrison, and a certificate of election for W.D. Carmichael as Senator for Hinds and Warren Counties, Mississippi.
WLBT Archives, 1967-1980.
Correspondence, memoranda, board minutes, programming logs, newscast scripts, videotapes, and news film documenting the policies and operation of television station WLBT in Jackson, Mississippi, during the period (1971-1980) in which Communications Improvement, Inc., a non-profit organization, held the station's interim license. The 16 mm news film documents political events and personalities; videotapes of the Probe program includes interviews with political figures concerning elections and other political issues.
