About the Festival
The Charles Templeton Ragtime Jazz Festival is sponsored by the University Library and the Charles Templeton Sr. Music Museum as a means of enhancing the research in the area of ragtime music, increasing the awareness of the Templeton collection housed in the MSU Library and introducing people to the sounds of Ragtime being performed by world-renowned ragtime musicians.
The festival is comprised of a blend of major concerts, mini-concerts, seminars and tours of the Music Museum. Seminars are held in Mitchell Memorial Library and major concerts are held at the McComas Hall Auditorium on the MSU Campus.
The Festival is held at Mitchell Memorial Library, on the beautiful campus of Mississippi State University, in Starkville, MS.

A Ragtime Café will be set up for festival attendees in the Library.

The nearest airport is the Golden Triangle Regional Airport in Columbus, MS.
Other accessible airports include Memphis International Airport (3 hr drive); Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (2.5 hr drive); Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (2 hr drive); and Tupelo Regional Airport (1 hr drive).
MSU and Starkville's new transit bus system, S.M.A.R.T. (Starkville-MSU Area Rapid Transit), runs frequently between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. If you are attending on-campus events on Friday, you may find the Central Loop route helpful; this route drops off at Mitchell Memorial Library Monday - Friday. When you're not attending a concert or seminar, you can explore one of the many recreational opportunities at MSU or in Starkville, including museums, theatre, stops on the Mississippi Blues Trail, and Bulldog sports.
The greater Golden Triangle region also offers a variety of fun and enriching activities. A short drive to Tupelo brings you to Elvis Presley's birthplace, great food, and several good museums. Columbus has fine dining, wonderful antebellum homes, and Tennessee Williams' birthplace.
