This compressible flow textbook differs from other compressible flow textbooks in at least three significant ways: (1)the order of presentation of some compressible flow topics, (2) the extensive use of generalized flow concepts for one-dimensional flows, and (3) the integration of software elements into the narrative and problem solutions. We have used the approach developed in this textbook in both aerospace and mechanical engineering compressible flow courses and have been quite pleased with the results. All of the topics usually presented in an introductory compressible flow textbook are contained in this book, albeit in different order and perhaps in a different manner. In the order of topical appearance this book is divided into the following five parts: Part I Fundamental Principles, Part II Waves in Compressible Flow, Part III One-Dimensional Generalized and Simple Flows, Part IV Multi-Dimensional Flows, and Part V High Temperature Gas Dynamics.
