She has shared her distance experience in several presentations, panel discussions, training seminars, and a journal article entitled, Teaching Your First Distance Course.

She has been recognized by her peers in the College of Business as a two-time recipient of the Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award and a two-time recipient of the Outstanding Service Award. She was also recognized as the Continuing Education Faculty of the Year at Mississippi State for continuous commitment to nontraditional students and lifelong learning. Her service activities include consulting with business and conducting training seminars on oral and written communication, multimedia development and business presentations, and software applications.

Dr. Lehman presents regularly at the international and regional conferences of the Association for Business Communication. She has authored Business Communication, a comprehensive textbook in its 12th edition and Creating Dynamic Multimedia Presentations Using Microsoft PowerPoint, both published by South-Western College Publishing. Her work has appeared in a number of professional journals including Business Communication Quarterly, Journal of Business and Technical Communication, Strategic Finance, Business Education Forum, Texas Business Education Journal, and Resources in Education.
