Dr. Mackin is a 1983 graduate of Murdoch University Veterinary School, and has worked at veterinary teaching hospitals in Australia, Canada, Scotland and the United States. Dr. Mackin, a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists, is a board-certified specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine. Dr. Mackin is the Chief of the Medicine Service and the Hugh Ward Chair of Small Animal Medicine at Mississippi State University, and maintains a specific clinical/research focus on hematology and hemostasis. He is co-editor of the recently published BSAVA Manual of Small Animal Hematology and Transfusion Medicine, and past President of the Association of Veterinary Hematology and Transfusion Medicine.
