Amanda Clay Powers graduated from Wellesley College with a degree in English Literature and holds a Masters' Degree from Simmons Graduate School of Library and Information Science. She has been with the MSU Libraries since 2005, and previously worked as a commercial fiction editor with Bantam Books and as the Marketing Manager for a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Hedge Fund.

At the MSU Libraries, Amanda is an associate professor; Interim Coordinator of Research Services and Social Media Research Librarian. She is the Chair of the MSU Libraries Social Media program, and she gives workshops nationally on issues related to managing online identities. Her research focuses on assessment of reference services and the use of social media in academia.
