The Mississippi Library Association invites you to the 2011 MLA Conference.  The Conference brings together librarians from around the state for an opportunity for professional development!  While the schedule is still being developed we hope that you will make plans to join us in October in Jackson for an exciting and informative Conference.  While the complete program has not been set, we can tell you that the Conference Program will have a wide variety of speakers including Sid Salter, Sam Haskell, Joyce Ogburn (ACRL President) and Miguel Figueroa (ALA) talking on number of topics ranging from advocacy to diversity to the use of technology in libraries to partnerships between libraries and other agencies. 

Programs are being developed and selected that will appeal to librarians from all types of libraries. So, mark your calendar for October 18-21, 2011.

School and public librarians will be able to receive continuing education units (CEUs) for attending MLA conference programs. A registration form will be available at the registration desk.

CEUs Offered for Conference Attendees

CEUs will be offered to individuals that need the continuing education units. This form (.doc) provides a listing of the workshops for which you can get CEUs. You do not need to complete the form prior to registration. These forms will be available at the registration desk.

Technology Petting Zoo

Bring your favorite technology to the MLA Technology Petting Zoo at the 2011 Mississippi Library Association Annual Conference in Jackson. This event allows conference attendees to see cutting edge technologies (e.g., QR codes, eBook readers, mobile applications, augmented reality, mobile technology, cloud computing, gaming etc.) that will shape the libraries of tomorrow. There is no formal presentatio; the tech-zoologists will share their technology, answer questions and give participants a chance for hands-on interaction.

The Petting Zoo will be:
