The third workshop in a series of three presented by Mississippi State University Libraries, the Department of Technology & Education, and the Division of Continuing Education
March 30, 2000, 8:30 a.m. March 31, 2000, 3:00 p.m.
During the third workshop of the series, participants will learn to identify grant information for school libraries, to find free reference tools on the web, to integrate FirstSearch, PoemFinder, and SIRS into lesson plans, to stay abreast of new ideas for libraries and librarianship, and to implement information literacy in schools.
Grant Writing
Participants will learn the steps to take before beginning to write a grant, the elements of a good proposal, and the grant seekers' ten golden axioms. Also, participants will learn to identify grant information for school libraries using the world wide web.

Desktop Publishing & Photo Editing
Convey your message by creating a publication using Microsoft Publisher. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to enhance the communication of ideas by designing a flyer and a simple brochure advertising library and school events. Participants will learn how to revive old photographs using Adobe PhotoShop. Participants will also create an image by combining a picture taken in the 1990s with one from the 1950s.

Implementing Information Literacy for the 21st Century
The Information Revolution is putting greater pressure on students to enter the world informationally literate. In Implementing Information Literacy for the 21st Century, school librarians will have an opportunity to:
1. Define Information Literacy
2. Discuss AASLs Information Literacy Standards
3. Participate in an exercise that can be adapted to teach K-12 information literacy
