Unit/Theme: The Road to Revolution
Objectives:
Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the English Colonies, be able to discuss European rivalry in North America, explain the importance of the French and Indian War in North America, discuss how the colonists protested British taxes, and discuss why fighting broke out at Lexington and Concord.
Instructional Format:
Lecture; worksheets; notes; individual and in teacher-selected student pairs.

Videotape called "The American Revolution" Volume II (last 10 minutes) and Volume IV (first 15 minutes)

Duration of Activity:
7 days
Activity:
Students will take notes in outline form during lecture. Students will copy notes from chalkboard into notebook. Students will complete worksheets and puzzles pertaining to subject matter. Students will watch videotape called "The American Revolution."
Explore Activity:
Students will access MAGNOLIA. Students must go to Ebsco Host. Once there, each student must do a search for "French and Indian War," making sure that each student uses all databases from Ebsco Host. Students must click on "Colonial America and the American Revolution: 1492-1783." This is taken from the 2003 World Almanac for Kids. Teacher must select student pairs to quiz each other on the timeline. 
Formal Assessment:
Quizzes; chapter tests; check notebooks and homework.
