Multimedia Lab
The Instructional Media Center's Multimedia Lab provides state-of-the-art hardware and software, professional staff and highly-trained lab assistants, and an environment conducive to individual and group project work. We also have instructional books, videos, and other items to help those who may not need the intensive help offered by our one-on-one assistance. Online tutorials are also available.
The multimedia lab is comprised of:
- 29 PCs
- 4 Apple Mac Minis
- 4 Music Composition Stations
- 15 Scanners (5 with document feeders)
- 1 Slide/Negative Scanner
- 4 Digital Video Capture Stations (3 PC/1 MacPro)
- 2 Typewriters
All stations provide access to the most current suites of multimedia and web development tools including:
- Adobe Acrobat 9
- Adobe Creative Suite 4 & 5
- AutoCAD
- Camtasia
- Finale
- Microsoft Office 2007
- Pinnacle Studio HD
Read descriptions of the available software. Handouts providing help with software are also available on this page.
Patrons must sign in at the front desk before using the workstations and must present a valid MSU ID if they intend to charge prints to their university accounts. A two (2) hour time limit will be enforced when the lab is full and other patrons are waiting.
Please refrain from eating or drinking while using the workstations.
Use cell phones and mobile devices courteously and respect fellow patrons' work environment. Devices should be placed on silent or vibrate and voice conversations should be taken outside of the lab.
Patrons are responsible for saving and backing up their work. Files saved to the hard drive of computers in the IMC Multimedia lab are deleted upon logging out. The IMC Print drive is available for patron use and can be accessed from all workstations. This drive is erased weekly, so for long-term storage patrons must use their own media such as CDs/DVDs, USB Drives, External Hard Drives, etc.
