Charles W. 'Chip' Pickering

Chip Pickering is a native of Jones County and earned his B.A. degree at the University of Mississippi and a master's degree in business from Baylor University. He began his public service career as an assistant to Senator Trent Lott. In 1996, he was elected to represent Mississippi's Third Congressional District, succeeding the retiring Sonny Montgomery. Congressman Pickering served on the House of Representatives committees of Agriculture; Science; and Transportation and Infrastructure. His subcommittees included: (Agriculture)-Forestry, Resource Conservation, and Research; Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry; (Science)-Basic Research, Space and Aeronautics; (Transportation and Infrastructure)-Aviation, Surface Transportation.
