  1. Library Hours. The CVM Branch Library schedule is posted on the door of the Library and on the Library's website. Holiday and intersession hours vary from the regular schedule and are posted in advance in both places. The Mitchell Memorial Library is open longer hours than the CVM Branch Library and materials may also be checked out there.
  2. Books and Materials. Books and cataloged audiovisuals are located on the shelves by the call number using the Library of Congress classification system. Reference books have REF above the call number and are located in the first section of book shelving. Journals and non-cataloged audiovisual materials are shelved alphabetically by title or main entry.
  3. Circulation of Materials. Circulating books are checked out to DVM and graduate students for a period of 56 days and to undergraduate students (including veterinary technician students) for 28 days. The Library recognizes the need to loan some materials which do not normally circulate outside the Library. When these materials are loaned, it is only at the approval of the Library staff.
  4. Overdue Books. For circulating books, a grace period of 28 days after the due date is allowed during which patrons may turn in books without penalty. Overdue fines are $10.00 per item. Overdue fines for reserve materials are discussed in the next section under Reserve Materials. Overdue fines of $1.00 per item per day (or any part thereof) are charged for journals, reference books, and non-book materials.
  5. Reserve Materials. Closed reserve materials may be used in the Library for a two-hour period and must be requested at the circulation desk. Materials on regular reserve may be checked out for one hour; reserve items checked out at 5:00 p.m. or later must be returned by noon the next day. Students are responsible for reserve material until it is returned to the desk and should not pass it on to someone else and should not place it in the book depository. Students should return reserve material directly to the circulation desk attendant. An overdue fine of $5.00 per item per hour (or any part thereof) is charged for overdue reserve material.
  6. Equipment. Videotape and DVD players are maintained in the CVM Branch Library for patron use. Headphones are also available for checkout. Computers and a color flatbed scanner are available. The Library furnishes 4 laser printers--three black-and-white and one color--which will receive print commands from networked computers. Copies cost $0.10 per page and $0.07 per page using Moneymate. Change may be obtained at the circulation desk.
  7. Telephone. Personal calls may not be made or accepted on Library business telephones.
  8. Copy Machine. The CVM Branch Library provides a coin-operated copying machine for use of its patrons. Copies cost $0.10 per page and $0.07 per page using Moneymate. Students may also charge copies to their student accounts. Change may be obtained at the circulation desk.
  9. Payment of Fines. The Library accepts cash, checks and Moneymate for overdue fines or lost books.
  10. Assistance. The Library staff is eager to assist with your information needs and to enhance your library skills. Do not hesitate to ask for help. A full-time staff person is on duty Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Student workers staff the Library evenings and weekends.
