Renewing Books

The Library does not renew books over the phone. Items that are past the due date but still within the patron's grace period are NOT renewable on the website. Please bring those books into the library to be renewed at the service desk at Access Services. For Interlibrary Loan books please log into your ILLiad account or call (662) 325-7678.

Log into My Account
  • go to the Library’s webpage
  • select Online Catalog
  • Log in at the top using your MSU 9 Number and the Last 4 digits of your 9 number.
  • Click on My Account

If you experience difficulty logging on, e-mail Access Services at access@library.msstate.edu or call (662)-325-7668.

Once logged on, your account will be displayed. The information shown will include your name, materials you currently have charged to your account, any outstanding bills or holds/requests for materials.

When viewing your account, materials that are renewable have a check box to the left of the title. The due date is located to the right of the title. Click the check boxes for the materials to be renewed (or choose renew all items) and press the "Renew Selected Items" button.

A message will come up that says Item Renewed and will tell what the new due date is. Click ok and you will go back to the menu screen above.

Remember that materials can only be renewed twice prior to being returned to the Library. If you have materials that are more than 28 days overdue or if you have fines totaling over $10, you will not be able to renew your material until your overdue books are returned to the Library and all fines are paid. Items that have been renewed twice and are marked "Not Renewable" must be returned to the Access Services Department to be renewed.

Fees/Fines will appear at the bottom of the page. The reason for the fine and the amount of the fine are listed as well as the title and author of the material associated with it.

Materials that have been put on hold by you will be located under the checkouts in the section titled "Holds". Information given for a hold includes, title, author, availability (where you fall in line), pickup location (chosen by you at the time the hold was placed) and expiration date. You will be able to cancel a request by clicking the check boxes to the left of the title and pressing the "Cancel Selected Holds" button.
