Jim DelPrince is an Associate Professor of Floral Design at Mississippi State University. MSU is the only institution with a specialized curriculum in Retail Floristry Management, a fully-operational florist shop and an active SAIFD chapter.

He has been a member of The American Institute of Floral Designers since 1992 and served as President of the AIFD Southern Region in 2001-2002. He is also a member of PFCI, the Professional Floral Communicators International. Jim has co-authored the Book of Floral Terminology, published by AIFD and served as chair of its Research Committee and has written several trade press articles including the Floral University series in Flora.

Jim has completed research in historical floral designs spanning the years 1790-1900. As part of this ongoing research, he received a fellowship with the Smithsonian Institute, Washington, D.C. in horticulture of the American Classical period, 1790-1850. In the fall, Jim held a fellowship at Winterthur, the country estate of H.F. DuPont in decorative arts research.
